Carrigaline Tidy Towns Campaign Launched

The official launch of this year’s Carrigaline Tidy Towns campaign took place at their headquarters in the Owenabue car park on Monday night last. The representative gathering was welcomed by Tidy Towns Chairman Liam O’Connor who gave an overview of their achievements last year, including winning the first Gold Medal for Carrigaline. He outlined the ambitious plans for the year ahead and how these can be achieved. In thanking Cork County Council, he said many of the Tidy Towns projects would not be achieved without the Council’s help. He also thanked SECAD, Tús and Solas for their continuous support. He paid tribute to all the volunteers and welcomed 10 newcomers who are joining the existing team.
In launching the 2018 season Tidy Towns also launched this year’s Newsletter which includes a map of the Community First Responders locations of defibrillators. Liam announced a community Clean Up day on Saturday next, volunteers to meet at Tidy Towns headquarters at 10.30am and then going to various parts of the town. Everybody is welcome to be involved in An Taisce April Clean Up Month. Present at the launch were Fr Pat Fogarty P.P. Michael McGrath T.D., Seamus McGrath M.C.C. Also present were Maura Allen Vice Chairperson, Geraldine O’Hara Hon Secretary, Betty O’Riordan Hon Treasurer, Barry Cogan PRO, Howard Crowdy Tidy Towns photographer and committee member Claire O’Mullane, club representatives and some 20 volunteers. After the launch they adjourned for refreshments to the SuperValu mall sponsored by David Collins.
