Kinsale Set To Remember Ann Marie

It’s expected that Kinsale residents will turnout en-masse at the local rugby club’s HQ on July 20th at 8pm to remember the late Ann Marie Kingston and help raise significant funds for Marymount Hospice.

Having passed away after a brave battle against cancer on May 22nd, this is a fitting memorial to mark her commitment to the local club, where her husband, Paul, and her six sons are an integral part of the club’s set up, and was organised by a close knit circle of friends, affectionately known as the “Scrummy Mummies”.

Led by Ann O’Connell, who described Ann Marie as someone who was incredibly giving and who’d drop anything if you asked her for a hand, the evening’s entertainment will include what promises to be a hard-fought encounter in a tag rugby match between the Srummies Versus the V-Vets, to be followed by an even harder session, where a number of brave souls will face the razor in a wax shave.

The night will conclude with a raffle and DJ, with Tómas O’Brien overseeing proceedings as the evening’s MC.

Both incoming club president, Giles Norman and outgoing club president, Kim Kerins, concurred that Ann Marie had played a significant role in the club, with Giles suggesting: “Anne Marie, along with her husband Paul and their six sons, (all who have played with our club), have been the very heart and soul of the Kinsale Rugby Club for as long as I can remember.”

For Kim: “Ann Marie wasa role model for all of us as to what a truly dedicated club person does.”

“Every time we organised a fundraiser or ran an event Anne Marie was first to offer to help.”

Finally, Giles and Kim called on the entire community to join the club in celebrating Ann Marie’s life and her uniqueness as a very special person.
