Kinsale Entrepreneur Strikes Again Kinsale Entrepreneur, Dennis Collins, who along with his partner, Aisling, operate www.theprintdenkinsale.com, has come up with an novel social media page on Facebook. Titled Bus strikes lifts from Kinsale to Cork, it allows stranded passengers affected by the current deadlocked bus company to hitch a ride to or from the city, with motorists who are travelling at the same time. Alternatively motorists can advertise specific times they are travelling when passengers can avail of a “spin”. Already the page is proving to be a huge hit and may continue to be a permanent feature, long after the dispute is settled. For Dennis this new concept comes hot on the heels of Kinsale Storminfo, another page on Facebook, that the Kinsale resident initiated. Currently, the page has over 2,700 members as it has proved invaluable locally with information during storms or severe cold snaps over the winter period, as posters simply leave messages in relation to poor road conditions, hazardous driving concerns, fallen trees or flooding. Reflecting on the use of social media Dennis said: “I think that social media can be used for the good of the community. “There are so many great groups out there already that benefit the towns. “I thought at this time with the bus strikes on that people could benefit from a facebook group helping them to get up and down to Cork – be it for work or any other reason.”
