Rochestown Woman Wins €27,000 Before Dashing To Concert

It was a Saturday to remember for Rochestown woman Melissa Monaghan who took the trip to Dublin to appear on the National Lottery and RTE game show, Winning Streak, winning €27,000 and then had to rush to a concert with her little daughter straight afterwards.

Melissa had already planned on being in the capital that day with her daughter Lola (8) as they had tickets for X-Factor in the 3 Arena. It was serendipitous that Melissa’s name was drawn from the Winning Streak drum to go on the show the same day.

A busy mum, Melissa has twins Lola and Sadie (8), the latter cheered her mum on from home, watching the show back in Cork. Right after Winning Streak was over, Melissa and Lola caught a cab straight away to ensure they didn’t miss the concert.

Melissa states that she is a typical Gemini – someone that “once I get talking you won’t be able to stop me!” – and really relished her chance to be on Winning Streak, a show that has been a staple of her Saturday evening’s television viewing for many years.

With her winnings, Melissa wants to take a cruise holiday with her daughters and her mum and after that she will take her time to see what else she can do with her Winning Streak windfall.

A total of €185,000 was won on the game show this week. Winning Streak scratch cards offer a range of great instant cash prizes plus a 3-star prize, which gives players the opportunity to enter a draw to appear on the gameshow. Five players are selected to appear on the Winning Streak TV Gameshow and win up to €500,000 instantly on the Grand Prize Wheel.
