A New Era for Girls' Soccer at Crosshaven AFC
Crosshaven AFC has kicked off an exciting new chapter for women's football at the club, entering an U13 girls team into the Cork Women and School Girls League after a ten-year absence from underage girls' competition.
The newly formed side played its first fixture last Saturday in Camden, marking a significant milestone for a club with deep roots in women's soccer. The team is managed by Megan O'Keeffe, and it is hoped it will be a lasting return to underage girls' football.
The new U13 team builds on a proud history of women's soccer at the club. Over the years, Crosshaven's women's teams have collected league titles and cup honours, and the club has produced players who went on to earn international call-ups for Ireland.
This is the first step in re-establishing a proper girls' soccer pathway at Crosshaven. With underage structures often serving as the pipeline for senior success, the club will be hoping this squad is the first of several age groups to follow, rebuilding the depth that once underpinned its success in women's football.
