Applications for Casual Trading Licences in Carrigaline District

Writes Leo McMahon
Twelve applications have been received for casual trading and casual provision of service licences in Carrigaline Municipal District (MD) since August following on the adopting of byelaws in 2025. There is a total of 21 bays available.
The application process closed on September 18th reported MD officer Denise Kidney at the recent meeting. However, exceptions for late applications were still being considered in exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Application forms could be obtained on the council’s website or from the MD office, Waterpark House, Church Road, Carrigaline for the 2026-2027 trading period.

Designated casual trading area are Fr O’Flynn Park and Mariner’s Quay, Passage West; Gobby beach car park, Ringaskiddy; Bothar Guidel car park, Carrigaline Community Park, Cork Harbour Greenway car park, Fountainstown car park and Roberts Cove bridge car park. Annual licences cost between €1,300 and €1,400.
Cllr Patrick Donovan (FF) urged flexibility for what was a new scheme and Cllr Audrey Buckley (FF) agreed, predicting more would apply. It was important that the proposed community wardens for the MD be able to move along any trader who didn’t have a licence. She was told that the Gardai would also have powers.
An Cathaoirleach Cllr Jack White (FG) paid tribute to the staff who put in a lot of work and for communicating in a clear and helpful way with the public on a new process.
