Carrigaline is buzzing with anticipation for its inaugural Summer Festival, a four-day extravaganza dedicated to raising funds for a much-needed community arts centre. From June 19th to 22nd, Carrigaline will come alive with a diverse program of music-centric events, promising something for everyone.

The festival kicks off on Thursday, June 19th, with a 12-hour sponsored Music Marathon at the Carrigaline Court Hotel. This event will showcase local talent of all ages and abilities, from school groups to seasoned performers. While there's no entrance fee, attendees are encouraged to donate, and a raffle featuring a ukulele will add to the fundraising efforts.

Friday, June 20th, shifts the focus to "The Power of Music" at the local library. A series of workshops and talks will explore music's therapeutic potential, including sessions for neurodiverse children, an introduction to music therapy, a discussion on neurologic music therapy for acquired brain injuries and neurodegenerative conditions, a teen songwriting workshop (ages 14-17), and a fun kids' jam session. Later that evening, the Stables Bar will host a community jam session, with instruments provided.

Saturday, June 21st, will see a headline performance by the iconic Irish band The Frank and Walters at the Carrigaline Court Hotel at 8:00 pm. They will be joined by the Crosshaven Community Choir and support act Danny and the Aos Daná. The band, known for their hit 'After All' from 'The Young Offenders,' continues to captivate audiences with their joyful music. This event is a collaboration between the Lions Club and the Carrigaline Arts and Culture Centre CLG. Tickets are available at the hotel and on Eventbrite, with profits being shared equally between the two organizations.

The festival concludes on Sunday, June 22nd, at the bandstand in the park. Tania Zor will present a vibrant demonstration of Hispanic dance, followed by a family workshop at 2:00 pm. The Toy Library of Ireland will also be celebrating their first birthday with a swap and play event from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, offering a sustainable way for children to exchange pre-loved toys. Children's art tables and other play activities will also be available.

The ambitious goal of the Carrigaline Summer Festival is to raise €200,000 to fund a feasibility study for the construction of a community arts centre in the heart of Carrigaline. Donation boxes will be present at all events throughout the four days, accepting both cash and card donations. This inaugural festival promises a week of entertainment and community spirit, all in support of a valuable future resource for Carrigaline.
