Carrigaline Lady Has Sights On Miss Munster

19 year old Carrigaline woman and past pupil of Carrigaline Community School Talia Murphy, has her sights set on the Miss Munster which takes place on July 1st.

Having been invited to enter the competition, Talia, who is studying sustainable energy engineering at Munster Technological University, is hoping for plenty of support from the Carrigdhoun area when the voting takes place through the Miss Ireland App on July 1st.

When asked to describe herself Talia says she has two passions; “sustainability and fashion design. As a hobby I design and make clothes out of unused clothing. For this competition, I was kindly sponsored by Jen’s Hair Kreations in Carrigaline. The majority of her products are vegan, cruelty free and sustainable. These considered choices tie in very well with my own personal values as I’ve been vegetarian for the last five years now. Another passion of mine is Art. My mother owns her own art school and I assisted her in teaching children as young as five, some with additional needs and sensory issues. This was a steep learning curve but very rewarding”.

To conclude said; “’m so honored to even be considered for this competition as the calibre of girls is extremely high. I’d love to use this platform to voice topics that are affecting us on a daily basis such as global warming, animal rights and fast fashion. As one of only three women on my college course studying engineering, I'd also love to speak about women in male dominated areas. This can be intimidating at times but it's important to persevere. I want to advocate to other women to do go for your dreams regardless of the demographics.”

The Miss Munster competition takes place on 1st July and as previously stated voting is through the Miss Ireland App, so get voting today.
