Carrigaline’s Josh Honohan was called up as part of Heimir Hallgrímsson’s Irish squad to face Luxemburg and Senegal in upcoming friendlies.
Honohan is one of four uncapped players to be called up to the squad in search of their senior debut.
Josh is a graduate of the Carrigaline United Academy and has previously played with Cork City before signing with current club Shamrock Rovers.
Rovers currently sit alongside Derry City on the top of the League of Ireland Premier Division table with 26 points each.
Hallgrímsson described him as a versatile player amid rumours he is set to move abroad.
“He can play on the left and the right so he gives flexibility in in-game changes. That’s one of his biggest advantages.
“We want to see him in our environment with these players which are mostly Premier League players. Normally good players can step up when they are with better players.”

Honohan was called up alongside fellow Cork men Adam Idah and Caoimhín Kelleher who both won trophies at their respective clubs recently, and Jake O’Brien.
