(The late Jean McCMcCarthy)

Carrigaline United AFC and the wider Carrigaline community are mourning the passing of Jean McCarthy (née Kent), Cedarwood Close, Waterpark, Carrigaline, and formerly of Shamrock Lawn, who died peacefully on October 1 in Cork University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

A devoted wife to Jim and mother to Richard, Derek, Jamie and Jenny, Jean was also a cherished grandmother and sister who was held in great affection by family, friends and neighbours.

Carrigaline United AFC paid tribute to Jean, describing her as a valued former club secretary, committee member and friend who gave generously of her time and support to the club over many years. The club said she would be remembered with great fondness by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As a mark of respect following her passing, Carrigaline United's Senior Premier League fixture against St Mary's, scheduled for October 2, was postponed.

The club extended its deepest sympathies to Jean's husband, children, grandchildren and extended family during this difficult time.

Jean's passing is deeply felt throughout the local community and sporting circles.

The Carrigdhoun would like to express its sincere condolences to Jean's family and friends on Jean's passing.
