The Carrigaline St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be going ahead again this year on March 17th.
The Parade will leave the Car Park of the Co-Op Superstores at 2pm, led by the Carrigaline Pipe Band. It will enter Main Street, Carrigaline at Cogan’s Corner and proceed up Main Street, past the Viewing Stand outside the Owenabue Car Park and it will finish outside the Old Pottery, on Main Street.
The Organising Committee is delighted that local Community Activist, Barry Cogan, will be our Grand Marshall this year. He has always given great service to all the community in Carrigaline and the committee looks forward to seeing Barry and his family at the parade.
The Committee has been busy, meeting regularly, planning and co-ordinating the event and there has been great interest in taking part from Community and sporting groups in Carrigaline and the surrounding area. If your group would like to take part in the parade, you can email the Organising Committee at carrigalineparade@gmail.com and an entry application form will be sent to you. Entries have to be back by March 10th, so get in contact as soon as possible. Decorative floats and equipment belonging to your group are welcome at the parade.
Main Street, Carrigaline will be closed during the parade and traffic barriers will be in place at the top of Main Street at the roundabout. Barriers will also stop traffic entering Main Street at Old Waterpark junction (By Garda Station); on Strand Road (By the Gaelic Bar); At the entrance to Barry Collins SuperValu Car Park; Church Hill junction with Main Street (Cogan’s Corner) and at Lower Kilmoney Road (junction of Pottery Road and Lower Kilmoney Road). Roads will close at 1.30pm and will remain closed until crowds have dispersed off Main Street after the parade has finished. Roads will re-open at 4pm (approx).
During the parade, Church Road; Ballea Road and Cork Road can be accessed from the roundabout at the top of Main Street…..It is only Main Street that that will NOT be accessible from the roundabout.
Diversion Routes around Carrigaline, by passing Main Street, will be signposted using Bothar Guidel and Pottery Road/new Bypass Road.
Pipers Funfair will set up earlier in the morning at the Front Owenabue Car Park and they will operate during the day and after the parade. The front Owenabue Car Park will be CLOSED from 6am in the morning until 6pm in the evening.
The organising Committee would be delighted for everybody to come out and support the parade and they are most appreciative to everybody who supported their recent fundraising activities for the parade, both privately and via the bucket collections in Dunnes Stores and Collin’s SuperValu, Carrigaline.
