College Corinthians to play re-arranged FAI Intermediate Cup this weekend

College Corinthians will play their re-arranged FAI Intermediate Cup quarter final Ringmahon Rangers this weekend at 2pm in Ringmahon Park.

The fixture was originally supposed to be played last weekend on the 29th of February, but was postponed due to the weather.

This quarter final clash will pit the last two Cork teams left in the competition against one another, and a win will put one of them just ninety minutes away from the showpiece final at the Aviva Stadium.

With all the honours won by the Corinthians, the Intermediate Cup is one which has eluded the club. In their history, the club have reached the final on two occasions; losing to Fanad United and Cherry Orchid each time by just one goal.

Their story in the cup has been one of defiance with them recording some huge results on route to the quarter finals. This began last October, when the club beat defending champions Avondale United 1-0 in Corinthians Park. This result was followed up with with a hardened 2-0 win over Bonagee United in Donegal.

Ringmahon Rangers, who are undefeated at the top of the Munster Senior League Premier Division, have never reached the final of the Intermediate Cup. Their previous best achievement in the cup was in 2016, when they reached the semi finals.

Ringmahon's cup journey began last October, when they beat Park United and Carrigaline United. In the last sixteen of the cup, they beat Bangor GG 2-1.
