Crosshaven Tri Club Celebrates Growth, Inclusion, and Achievement at Annual AGM

Crosshaven Tri Club held its Annual General Meeting this month, celebrating another outstanding year of growth, participation, and achievement both on and off the course.
David Pollard was confirmed to continue as Chair for the year ahead, following a year that saw record engagement, new initiatives, and the club’s highest ever membership.
Membership has risen sharply to over 130 members. The club now proudly has their most female members in a year to date and has a target to reach 50:50 gender balance by 2026.
New committee members were warmly welcomed, bringing new energy and expertise to the team:Amy Dawson joins as Women’s Officer, Christine Carroll as Public Relations Officer, Julie Waters as Socials Officer, and Stephen Hayes as Development Support Officer. Eimear Lynch, Wojtek Solinski, Ciara O’Callaghan and David Thompson also joined as new Leads.

Engagement across the year reached new heights. The March Motivation challenge had 115 participants running, cycling and swimming led by Training and Development Officer Jason Tivy. Over 30 members represented Crosshaven Tri at the Schull Triathlon, while more than 50 members raced or volunteered at the Centra Crosshaven Challenge, reflecting the club’s growing presence in the local triathlon community.
The evening also honoured members’ achievements through the annual Club Awards, celebrating performance, dedication, and contribution:

• 2nd. Sujeet Karle — first triathlon at Ballyhass after learning to swim
• 3rd. Wojtek Solinski — Gran Canaria 138 km / 7,200 m
Race Performance of the Year:
1st. Kieran Hennerty — 100 miles / 24 loops Kilworth Backyard Ultra
• 2nd. Laura Healy – 1st Lough Cutra
• 3rd. Mary Morales – 1st AG, 47 km Lanzarote X Famara
Club Member of the Year: Jason Tivy
Lead of the Year: Darren Morrissey — Swim Lead (“Summer of Wednesday Swims”)
Training Champion: Amy Dawson
The club’s Time Trial Series was also recognised, with hampers awarded to Terry McSweeney and Carrie Denham in July, and Amy Dawson and David Thompson in August.
A light-hearted Mad March Hare Award went to Clodagh Fitzgerald, who captained the winning “March Motivation” team that kept spirits high through the spring season.
Chair David Pollard praised members for “another incredible year of teamwork, resilience, and community spirit,” noting that the club’s Strategy 2025–2027 focuses on member value, inclusion, and community impact.
With a full calendar of training sessions, events, and social activities ahead, Crosshaven Tri Club looks set to continue inspiring athletes of all levels to swim, bike, and run together and to make Crosshaven a true home of triathlon. New members welcome.
