De Carrig Tour

De Carrig Tour This is the fourth year of De Carrig Tour, Cycle Sportive Charity Event which is a joint venture between the Carrigdhoun Cycling Club and Carrigaline RFC. Following on from the very successful running of the event in 2015 where we had almost 500 cyclists take part, we managed to make this a premier cycling sportive. It is also through the collaboration of these two clubs and the super support of Carrigaline AFC that we want to make this a truly community based event. To strengthen the community theme even further our nominated charity this year is the Carrigaline First Response Group and also Carrigaline Youth Centre. Carrigaline First Response comprises of trained volunteers who assist with cardiac or respiratory arrest, and choking emergency calls within the community, providing basic emergency care whilst an ambulance is en route to the patient within Carrigaline and its neighbouring areas. The scheme is not intended to replace the professional emergency medical services of the HSE or NAS, but rather to complement and enhance their services. The new Carrigaline Lions Youth Centre was recently opened to the youth of Carrigaline. This new 6,000 sq. foot landmark building was commissioned by the Carrigaline and District Lions Club and includes a youth cafe, activity room and IT room as well as offices and meeting spaces. We are also delighted to have the services of the legendary Sean Kelly this year, who has found the time from his very busy schedule to come and join us in Carrigaline. The Cycle will start from the Carrigaline Soccer Club on the Ballea Road in Carrigaline on Saturday 11th June at 9:30am for 120km and 10.00am for 60km and cycle through the beautiful Carrigdhoun Countryside. The organisers want to continue and build on our cyclist centric approach with the now famous BBQ for all cyclists on completion, refreshments will be provided along the route and free après cycle event later that evening. Also to ensure we maintain the highest standards for all our cyclists we are capping the numbers this year to 500 cyclist’s across both events. The cost to register for the event is €35 online and €40 on the day. To register online now and for further registration details visit www.CarrigdhounCyclingClub.com.
