Douglas' Adam Idah scores as Norwich beat Spurs in the FA Cup

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

Douglas local Adam Idah scored in Norwich City's penalty shoot out win against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup at White Hart Lane.

The former College Corinthians striker was brought on a substitute at the 72nd minute with the Canaries 1-0 down in this fifth round clash.

After Josip Drmic equalised for Norwich, both sides failed to find the net in the last ten minutes of the game and in extra-time, which meant penalties.

In the shoot out, Premier League stars Erik Lamela, Troy Parrot, and Gedson Fernandes all missed. For Norwich, Idah was cool, calm, and collected, with the 19-year-old powering the ball into the roof of the net.

Kenny McLean, Marco Stiepermann, and Todd Cantwell also scored as Norwich reached the quarter finals of the competition. They will now face the winners of Manchester United and Derby in the next round.

Previously in the FA Cup, the Idah a hat-trick in the Canaries 4-2 win over Preston North End in the third round. His performances that day at Deepdale garnered much praise from manager Daniel Farke, who selected him to start a Premier League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford a week later.

Idah - who turned nineteen last month - has been on fringes of the Norwich senior squad in recent weeks, as they battle for Premier League survival.
