Fort2Fort Charity Cycle raises €24,152 for Cork causes

At a special presentation at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island on October 15th, organisers of the annual Fort2Fort Charity Cycle announced that €24,152.00 was raised through this year’s event, bringing the total raised since the cycle’s inception in 2012 to almost €429,796.00. 


The 14th edition of the popular cycle took place on Saturday, June 14th, with 298 cyclists taking on the scenic routes around Cork Harbour. Funds raised have now been distributed to local beneficiaries, including the Mercy Hospital Foundation, and four Cork City and County Lions Clubs (Cork, Carrigaline, Cobh, and Bishopstown), as well as Passage West and Carrigaline Men’s Sheds, Camden Fort Meagher, Crosshaven GAA and Crosshaven AFC.

Proceeds from the Cycle will help ensure that patients across Munster continue to receive compassionate, cutting-edge care at Mercy University Hospital. Rachel Stevenson, CEO of the Mercy Hospital Foundation, which received €6,001 from this year’s event, explained “We’re dedicated to helping make every patient’s journey at ‘The Mercy’ as dignified and comfortable as possible. We are deeply grateful to all the cyclists, volunteers and donors who make this event such a success each year.”


Cian Delanty, Fort2Fort Chairman added “Fort2Fort is more than just a cycle. It’s a chance to connect, to give back, and to experience the beauty of Cork Harbour together. We’re hugely thankful to everyone who took part this year, as well as our sponsors for their continued generosity and support as we endeavour to continue to support worthy causes in Cork.”
