The Shamrock Club just completed a very successful CLUB CHIARAN Annual Summer Camp at Shanbally and children ranging from five years to 12 had a most enjoyable and
fulfilling week.
AIMING TO PLEASE
The main objective of any event especially one catering for children is to please and create an environment that will both energise and generate satisfaction for participants. The Shamrock Club were most fortunate to have a very competent group of Coaches and Helpers who performed at the highest level thus ensuring that their charges were fully engaging and happy with the fare. The boys and girls drawn from the Hurling, Football and Ladies Football teams jelled together very well and there was an obvious keenness to learn and do well. Many of the children had been at previous Camps and enjoyed the experience and were very keen to be registered for another one.

REFRESHING EXPERIENCE
There was a common view held by both Coaches and Parents that the out of doors event in the spacious playing field enabled children to burn up energy and relish the freedom of the open spaces free from the classroom, the phones and technology. They were returning to mother nature who gave them a week of excellent weather. Happy children is surely a joy to behold and relish for all.
VISITORS
An annual visitor and a most welcome guest was Mary Hegarty who was loud in her praise for all concerned. The Camp Ciaran honours her late son, who wore the Club colours with great pride. But, of course the visitor, who was talked about all week and yearned for by all was the Ice Cream Man and his van fully stocked for over one hundred ravishing customers. Where would Summer be without Ice Cream and the wish and dream of many a child was realised and fulfilled. There couldn’t be a better trophy than a ‘Large 99’. For many it was utopia and what a better way to close the curtain.
THANKS
A big thanks to all who helped. The Groundsman had the pitches in fine shape and all ancillary facilities were on par. The Kitchen was a busy place where the hungry were well watered and fed. It was a good week for Cumann Iomaniochta Agus Peile Na Seamroga.
