Jagged Edge Tour For Cancer Research A Great Success

Over 400 cyclists took part in Breakthrough Cancer Research’s new cycling sportive the “Jagged Edge Tour” (Pain or Pleasure) on Saturday April 11th in the glorious sunshine in Crosshaven. The event offered cyclists of all abilities three different routes, which all started in the picturesque surroundings of Crosshaven. The Pain route a 130k cycle route took in the beautiful South Cork Coast taking in Myrtleville, Fountainstown, Robertscove, Oysterhaven, Kinsale and much more.

Those who took the 65k pleasure route followed the same direction but cut out most of the difficult climbing and the Family Fun Cycle was from Crosshaven to Carrigaline and back which was suitable for all ages. Speaking at the end of the hugely successful event, Niall Kennedy, event organiser from Breakthrough Cancer Research said, “this event and the money we raised for Cancer Research would not be possible without the kind support of so many people and I wish to thank them all most sincerely, event sponsors ESI Technologies Ltd. Crosshaven Community Association, Crosshaven/Carrigaline Credit Union, Cronin’s pub, Granite Digital, Express Tyre Centre, Pepsico, Lynch’s Centra, Carrig Signs, Excellent Choice, Kilgrew Cycles, McCarthy Cycles and Carrigaline Cycles. We must also thank all the volunteer marshals and all those who participated in the tour.”

“We are delighted that our first year was such a success and we are already planning next year’s event. For anyone who is interested in joining us for further cycling events I would encourage you to join us on our Cork to Galway cycle which takes place on the 19th and 20th of June when legendary cyclist Sean Kelly will lead us from Cork to Limerick on day 1. You can find out more by visiting http://www.corktogalway.com/ , concludes Mr Kennedy.
