Seamus McGrath continues a tradition of leading the pack in the Carrigaline Municipal Area as he heads the poll following the tallies at Mallow.
With over 36% of the vote, according to tallies, the result was possibly never in doubt.
Following hot on his heels was Independent Cllr Ben Dalton O'Sullivan at a commanding 20%, which was very impressive considering he ran a no-poster campaign.
According to the tallies, Jack White also looks to be returned, out-polling his running mate, Una McCarthy, by 12% to 7%.
Cllr Audrey Buckley on 8% should easily be returned when Seamus McGrath's surplus transfers to her following his election.
The last seat is almost impossible to call with a scrum of candidates lining up to take it. Sinn Fein's Eoin Fahy is currently leading on 5%, but this may not be enough for him to hold the seat, with the Greens and Labour Party candidates in touching distance.
It will be later in the evening before we get the official first count and an opportunity to confirm
the initial tallies.
