This week, we meet Lucky:
Lucky is the first featured Pet Of The Week for 2021 and is the much loved Labrador friend of the O’Brien family, Ballinhassig. Lucky, who is now three years old, has been with the family since she was a puppy and has now grown into a fit, healthy and fun-loving dog.
Over the years with the family, Lucky has lived up to her name, says Mum Sarah, “We named her lucky at the very start because the kids fell in love with a dog in a cartoon or film who was called Lucky, but more than once since then she has lived up to that name. On one occasion when she was young, she nearly swallowed a sock. As first time pet owners, we didn’t know what to do but I managed to grab it at the last second before we would’ve had to call the vet – she was definitely ‘lucky’ then.
Sarah says that Lucky’s favourite trip is when the family go to the beach on a walk and she can run free. “She’s very good to come back when we call her, so she can enjoy a good run around (often chasing the waves in and out) when we go to the beach”, she says.
Lucky loves to play with the kids too, and is just as happy chilling out by the fire after a full day of play.
