Red Rocks Crosshaven Writes Jack White The convention has grown to become a truly international event with visitors coming from all over Ireland, Europe and as far afield as New Zealand and the U.S. There was a huge array of activities to enjoy over the weekend as visitors enjoyed the on-site entertainment and music as well as taking part in the unique carrot-tossing competition, ‘Redist’ Beard Competition and ginger speed dating. Even Ireland’s inclement weather played its part in behaving well to help make the event a success. Well known red-headed singer Mary Coughlan was amongst the stand out performers on the main stage in the centre of the village on Sunday evening. Once again this year a King and Queen of the Red-Heads were selected. Fermoy’s Rose Gráinne Keena was crowned Queen whilst it was Alan Reidy from Blennerville who took the title of King, taking over from local man Gary Fitzgibbon of Crosshaven who had been crowned 2014 King. 20% of festival ticket fees along with the sale of portrait prints went to the Irish Cancer society, matching the funds raised from other local efforts including over €5,600 raised by Johnny’s Return Bar.
