Rochestown GAA Club recently held the annual Pat McAuliffe Memorial Match, to honour our former player and manager. The game was held in glorious sunshine on the pristine playing surface of Ballinlough, the home of Seandun GAA, which as a proud Division, celebrated 100 years this year.  And as part of the final celebration of their centenary year, the match was hosted there this year. The two teams from our panel and some guests formed a fantastic free flowing game of football expertly refereed by Trevor Lyons, from Douglas GAA Club. A big thank you to Michael Buckley, Eddie Murphy and all at Seandun GAA for the honour of hosting our end of season game. And in the presence of Pat’s family and close friends.

The teams were captained by Robert Stuart and David Sheehan, with David’s team coming out on top thanks to a hat trick from Man of the Match, Alan Stokes.

Later that night, the annual awards night was held in the Briar Rose, Douglas. Where a magical night was enjoyed as the Management Team rewarded those for the success that was enjoyed in 2025. A first County final, a league final, a Seandun City Championship semi-final, and a final yet to be played in the Frank Halibert Trophy in Glenville.

A special occasion on the night was the inducting of three brothers in to the Rochestown Hall of Fame, Declan, Barry and Brendan Murphy, who battled hard on the pitch for many years in the Black and Amber, a very proud moment as they were inducted by their other brother Weeshie and Chairman, Michael Corkery.

Many thanks to Seamus McGrath TD and Mrs Marie McGrath as always for presenting the Sean McGrath Player of the Year trophy to the Winner Denis Dullea, a very worthy winner.
