Much Loved Carrigaline Trader To Close Doors After 38 years, Sheila Green Florists, one of Carrigaline’s most established businesses, is set to close its doors for the final time, as the well-known Sheila Green retires. In December 1978 Sheila Green Florist opened for business and has been in integral part of the Main Street ever since. At a time when Carrigaline really was still a village, Barry Collins Supervalu as it is now knows was a small supermarket and Waterpark was just being built, Sheila had the courage and foresight to begin a floral business. She did what so many people still do today; she started her own business! Her perseverance and tenacity through those 38 years must be an example to all who wish to succeed in business. The growth of the village in to a town brought many changes, amongst them new supermarkets. Yet despite the competition, Sheila Greene Flowers survived and continued to be a business, which supplied high quality flowers for all occasions. Having worked long beyond the average retirement age, Sheila has finally decided to shut up shop. It will be a sad day when she closes the doors for the last time on Saturday, 11th June. You might still have time before then to find a bargain in her half-price retirement sale, or you might just like to drop in and wish her well. As she retires, the community of Carrigaline and beyond wish her the very best. She and her staff will be missed by customers and businesses alike. Thank you, Sheila, for providing a wonderful service and such beautiful flowers to us all for so many. See more in this week’s Carrigdhoun.
