The community of Crosshaven was left in shock recently when it was revealed that a gang of drunken youths were believed to be at fault for the ransacking of a cottage on Graball Beach. The cottage, owned by Pierce O’Keefe was brutally attacked, creating between €15000-20000 worth of damage in the process.
The incident was first reported by a family friend of Mr O’Keefe on the 9th of March on the Crosshaven Notice Board. It has struck a particular chord in Crosshaven, due to the home-owners regular involvement with the development of Graball over the years, and as a result many members of the community have been left visibly upset.
On evidence it was clear that rocks had been thrown through windows, with further damage to the kitchen, dining room and bedroom. On hearing the news Mr O’Keefe returned to the cottage to witness what had unfolded. He was forced to board up windows which had been smashed, following the callous incident.
An investigation is now ongoing, with the gardaí requesting anyone with information to come forward immediately. Following a number of requests from residents asking if they could donate money to rebuild and repair the seaside cottage, a ‘Go Fund Me’ link was created.
