Sinn Féin Select Eoghan Jeffers To Replace Ó Laoghaire

Sinn Féin Select Eoghan Jeffers To Replace Ó Laoghaire Sinn Féin has selected Eoghan Jeffers to replace Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire TD as the party’s representative for the Ballincollig/Carrigaline Electoral Area on Cork County Council. Mr. Jeffers, from Grange in Douglas, was selected at a party convention held in Togher Community Centre earlier today. The convention was also contested by Mr. Mark Bowdren. Speaking following his selection, Mr Jeffers said; “I am honoured to have been selected by my fellow Sinn Féin members to replace our newly elected TD, Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, on Cork County Council. “I am 27 years of age and I have lived in Grange my entire life. I’ve worked in the motor trade since I was 15, and having finished my apprenticeship, I was sadly laid off due to the recession. I was lucky to find work as a barman and I am very passionate about my job. “The reason I became active in Sinn Féin was due to the very apparent social inequality in our society. I have witnessed hard working people struggling to escape poverty, friends unable to afford third level education and people living in substandard housing. I have watched people go through pain for years because hospital waiting lists are too long and they couldn’t afford private treatment. “On a personal level, the hardship of waving goodbye to friends and family, who may never return, has stayed with me to this day. “As a Sinn Féin public representative, I will be to the forefront of challenging the status quo and tackling inequality. I will be a strong voice, on Cork County Council, for ordinary people. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to build on Sinn Féin’s work in the Ballincollig/Carrigaline Electoral Area. I will be an honest, hard working representative who will always be there for my constituents.”
