St. Peter's Community School transformed their PE hall into a catwalk of creativity on Wednesday March 19th,  as transition year students showcased sustainable fashion in a spectacular charity event. The fashion show, jointly organized by the transition year students and the Parent's Association, raised an impressive €2,375, with over €600 earmarked for donation to the Irish Cancer Society.

The sustainability-themed fashion show featured outfits sourced entirely from Irish Cancer Society charity shops throughout Cork City, complemented by generous clothing donations from parents and guardians of the school community.

"We wanted to demonstrate that sustainable fashion can be both stylish and meaningful," said the transition year coordinator. "Our students learned valuable lessons about environmental responsibility while supporting crucial cancer services."

Students modelled creatively upcycled outfits ranging from casual daywear to formal evening attire, showcasing how pre-loved clothing can be transformed into fashion-forward ensembles. Each outfit was accessorised with items sourced exclusively from second-hand shops, reinforcing the event's sustainability message.

The TY students, TY Coordinator, and a team of dedicated teaching staff, along with the  Parent's Association, worked tirelessly behind the scenes, coordinating donations, transforming the venue, and selling tickets for the event. The tremendous success of this fashion show reflects the strong community spirit at St. Peter's.

Special thanks were extended to all those who supported this event including local businesses who supported us with refreshments, lighting, and equipment. The school also acknowledged the dedicated teachers who supervised rehearsals and the parents who volunteered to ensure the event's success.

Following overwhelmingly positive feedback, the school is already considering making the sustainable fashion show an annual fixture in their fundraising calendar.
