Standing 4 Women – Carrigaline, Crosshaven & Surrounding Community
The Carrigaline, Crosshaven and surrounding community branch of Standing 4 Women, coordinated by Elaine Ui Dhonnabhain, will be holding a Solidarity Rally on Saturday 1st September at 1pm at ‘The Otter Statue’ across from the Bank of Ireland on Main Street.
This National campaign was started as a reaction to the recent fallout from the Cervical Smear test scandal, with people calling for accountability and a change in how we the people are treated as a nation.
The motivation behind this campaign is the horrific and heart-breaking stories that have poured out in the wake of the scandal. The general feeling is that we must not stand by and let one more family be torn apart by the huge failures and discrepancies within the HSE.
The message is “Women’s Lives matter”, with individuals saying that they are standing up, not only for women and families today, but, for future generations.
We invite the People of Carrigaline, Crosshaven and surrounding community to come together for our support rally. We feel that it is important to keep the momentum going and supporting all those who are seeking justice. We want to honour those who have lost their lives and for those that have now started their journey of treatment due to the late diagnosis of cervical cancer.
We encourage those to wear red on the day in support of all the women and families affected.
We look forward to hearing from guest speakers on the day – people who have been directly affected by this scandal.
Please come along with your family and friends to show your support – we’ll meet at “The Otter” across from Bank of Ireland at 1PM on Saturday 1st September.
