The Tracton Arts Festival July 6th-10th

The Tracton Arts Festival July 6-10 The Tracton Arts Festival in Minane Bridge, runs from 6th – 10th July. Now in its second year, the festival will be opened on Wednesday July 6th at 7pm by John Fitzpatrick, director of The International Cork Choral Festival. The opening will coincide with the private view of two art exhibitions; one by a collective of Tracton artists and the other entitled ‘Colours In A Box’, showcasing the work by students of artist, Victor Richardson. Other events during the five days will feature performances by Mick Flannery, The Moody Roots, The Light Runners, The Stargazers and Lorraine Hogan with Sam Barker. Tracton Arts & Community Centre – a beautiful Georgian former schoolhouse – will act as a hub for the festival. Victor Richardson, said:” The Tracton Arts Festival is an eclectic collection of performances, exhibitions and events so there is something for everyone, from the hugely popular Mick Flannery to the staging of a wonderful one-woman performance by Fiona York in the role of Rose, a wise cracking Jewish woman who has lived a life and seen it all. “We will have a spit roast, artisan food, pizza from the wood-fired community oven, face painting, clay throwing, painting demonstrations, workshops and a mega mural project so we are reaching out to old and young to join us in what promises to be five days of great music, art, fun and culture.” The festival includes illustrated presentations by Alison Hackett, award winning author of The Visual Time Traveller; slides from Antarctica by marine biologist, Mick Mackey; the exotic world of chillies and lemongrass by Chris Young from The Irish Chilli Farm, and tall tales by adventurer and author, Jasper Winn.
