Tracton Athletics Club have organised a fundraising event for this coming weekend (Friday 3rd April - Sunday 5th April) called 'Tracton AC Going the Distance'. Club members will 'virtually' run and / or walk the full length of Cork's coastline (1094km) collectively between them, while adhering to Covid 19 restrictions around exercising solo and staying within 2km of home.

We know that this is a very challenging and fearful time for people, particularly for many older people in society. We have a wonderful Active Retired group in our local community of Tracton and we want to reach out in supporting them through this challenging time. Over the weekend of April 3rd 2020 and spanning over 3 days (from 6am Friday morning to 9pm Sunday evening), we are seeking as many members of Tracton AC to take on the challenge of collectively going the distance of Cork's Coastline - 1094km. Adhering to the new 2km guidelines, members will need to run and/or walk solo in their own localities, possibly even around their gardens, numerous times! Adults & Juvenile club members are welcome to take part, posting pictures and videos of their activities on our Facebook event page as they complete their distances each day, using the tagline - #tractonacgoingthedistance All monies raised will go to our local Tracton Active Retired Association. Our hope is that when the Covid-19 crisis comes to an end, our active retired community will be able to come together once again as a group, without the worry of social distancing, and celebrate with one another! To take part in the challenge, we are asking all Club participants to donate €5 each and, if they wish to donate more, they can of course. We would be delighted to see our community rally around us and help us in supporting our local active retired group. You can donate anything from €5 upwards. Every little helps!
