The government has put plans in place to make the journey from Cork to Dublin to ease tailbacks ahead of the rebels All-Ireland Hurling Final Clash versus Tipperary.

Two weeks ago for the All Ireland Semi final, there was an unprecedented number of Cork fans travelling to Croke Park, which caused significant traffic volume and some tailbacks at the toll plazas.

Cork TD & Minister of State in the Department of Transport, Jerry Buttimer welcomed a number of measures to ensure the traffic flows as efficiently as possible for anyone driving to the game, especially through the toll plazas.

Toll operators will have a full complement of management, operational and backup staff through the day on All-Ireland Final day.

All operators, both PPP and TII MMaRC contractors will have fully mobilised teams of Incident Support Unit (ISU) vehicles operating along the M8, M7 and M50 routes to deal expeditiously with any collisions or breakdowns.

In addition, Direct Route in Fermoy will deploy additional staff to Corrin Junction (J 15) toll plaza to ensure that both lanes are used efficiently to avoid a repeat of the Semi-Final Day congestion.

Motorway VMS signage on the approaches to Dublin will provide updates on available parking at Red Cow, City-West and Carrickmines (M50) Luas Park-And-Rides.  In particular, match goers will be notified promptly when these are reaching capacity.

A messaging campaign on social media across Linkedin, eFlow and TII Traffic Website has also been underway since Monday.

Minister Buttimer said, “I want to thank my officials in the Department, and across TII, the NTA, Iarnród Eireann Éireann, and everyone else who is collaborating to ensure people get to the match safely, comfortably and on time”.
