Update On Carrigaline Education Campus

Writer: Online JournalistOnline Journalist

The Department of Education and Skills have today given approval for the Carrigaline Education campus to proceed to tender.

The project has been developed for delivery to the Cork Education and Training Board and will comprises 3 new school buildings for Gaelscoil Carrigaline, Gaelcholáiste and SONAS Special school.

An Tánaiste Simon Coveney TD said, “It means issues like ground works, a fire assessment, disabled access requirements as well as energy and waste plans have all been submitted and approved.A cost estimate has also been approved but it will not be released in order to protect the tender process and achieve the best price for the taxpayer. The tender documents for firms interested in building the schools will be advertised by the end of next month. In April Carrigaline was one of 42 towns that learned it will get a brand new 16 class primary school. That announcement and this campus show the government’s commitment to the area and our growing population.”
