Now being widely reported that Ballinhassig, native Niall O’Halloran, is set to be named as part of Ben O'Connor's selection committee for the Cork Senior Hurling Team.

Niall has had a string of successes, with a wide number of clubs at county level including Bandon, Eire Og, Fr O'Neills and, most recently, Lisgoold.

Considered to be a very astute coach, he began his coaching career with Ballinhassig, and he certainly has an impressive CV.

Known for his attention to detail, he's well respected and has a reputation for working well with people, with a capacity to listen to those around him.

Of course, his late father, Ger was also well respected as a selector at club, third level and intercounty level.

O'Halloran will follow in the footsteps of Ballinhassig's Martin Coleman (SNR), who was part of the legendary team, led by the late Canon Micheal O'Brien, who completed the hurling leg of the 1990 double winning All-Ireland Senior teams.

Also, in the mix to join O'Connor's team, are Ronan Curran, Terrace McCarthy, William Biggane and Ger O'Regan.

An announcement is expected at Tuesday night's monthly county board meeting at Pairc Ui Chaoimh
