Carrigaline – Guidel Twinning 30th Anniversary Writes Jim Kelly On Saturday a group of nearly 30 Bretons arrived to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the twinning between Guidel and Carrigaline. They were met by an equally strong contingent from Carrigaline and treated to a reception in the Carrigaline Court Hotel. Each visitor was presented with a welcome pack consisting of a commemorative mug, crested rain poncho (just in case of inclement weather!) maps and guides. On Sunday they visited Mitchelstown Caves had an enjoyable tour of the local area. On Monday evening a cherry blossom tree was planted on Bothar Guidel. This was to celebrate the 30 years of friendship between the two towns, which is as strong as ever thanks to the hard work over the years by past and present committee members from both towns. Other activities are planned for the week including the Celebration Dinner on Friday evening in the Royal Cork Yacht Club, Crosshaven. See photos from the dinner in next week’s Carrighoun and a special feature on the 30th Anniversary the week after next.
