The Centra Crosshaven Triathlon Challenge was launched on Wednesday evening, June 5th in Rivers End Café, Crosshaven.
The event, now in its 17th year, is set to take place in the village on September 14that 5pm.
Since commencing in 2003 the Centra Crosshaven Challenge has gone from strength to strength. It has gone from hosting 7 teams of 3 athletes, to last year accommodating over 300 tri-athletes, making it one of the most successful triathlons in the country. It is also now recognised as one of the best run events on the triathlon calendar.

The event is sponsored by Lynch’s Centra Crosshaven, and all funds raised from the Triathlon are donated to local Charities, Groups, Clubs and initiatives, to aid the development of our local community. This year’s beneficiaries include Scoil Bhríde, Crosshaven, Templebreedy Save Our Steeple, Crosshaven Christmas Lights, 3 For The Sea and Crosshaven Girl Guides.
To date the Centra Crosshaven Challenge has raised over €190,000 for the local community and this year’s entries will increase the total fund further.
The Triathlon consists of a 500-metre swim followed by 10 kilometre cycle finishing with a 5 kilometre run. The event caters for all standards and includes some of the top tri-athletes in the country as well as first time competitors and people out to enjoy themselves.
