Crosshaven continued their impressive run of form, securing a hard-fought 3-1 victory over a resilient Macroom side in the Munster Senior League. The win marks Crosshaven's fourth consecutive triumph, a remarkable achievement given they traveled with depleted numbers due to illness.

The game started steadily, but it was Macroom who broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. A somewhat fortuitous bounce saw the ball skid awkwardly, allowing the home side to capitalize and take an early lead with a stunning strike.

However, Crosshaven's response was swift and decisive. Just four minutes later, Shay Murphy found the back of the net to draw his side level, injecting new life into the visitors' attack. The momentum continued to swing in Crosshaven's favour, and only three minutes after his equalizer, Murphy turned provider. He threaded a superb pass through to Rob Twomey, who duly "christened his new boots" by slotting home to give Crosshaven a 2-1 lead heading into the break.

The second half saw Crosshaven consolidate their advantage with a moment of real quality in the 65th minute. A beautiful passage of one-touch football involving Ray Foley Kiss, Oisin Noonan, and Shay Murphy carved open the Macroom defence, allowing Rob Twomey to apply the finishing touch for his second goal of the game, extending Crosshaven's lead to 3-1.

Throughout the match, Mark Hitchmough was a dominant force in midfield for Crosshaven, described as "imperious" and setting a high standard for his teammates. Crucially, the back five of Crosshaven have now established themselves and are providing a solid foundation for their recent success. Their defensive solidity was evident even after conceding an early goal, ensuring Macroom found few clear-cut chances thereafter.

This victory not only extends Crosshaven's winning streak but also highlights their depth and resilience, overcoming significant challenges to secure another crucial three points on the road.
