Five Years After Her Sister Won €33,000
A Crosshaven mother went on Winning Streak last Saturday (5th October) and won herself a cool €34,000 more than five years after her sister won €33,000 on the National Lottery game show on RTÉ One.
Anne Maverley from Crosshaven, won €1,000 more than her sister Margot, who appeared on the show in January 2014, winning €33,000. National Lottery luck runs in Anne’s family as earlier this year, Anne also made an appearance on Telly Bingo on RTÉ last January by phone where she took part in the phone risk game – which landed her €5,000 in cash.
Anne said that she got the shock of her life when she saw and heard her name being drawn out of the Winning Streak drum while watching the show with her family two weeks ago. Even though she knew she had a three-star scratch card in, the last thing she expected was to get on the TV game show.
Anne is married to husband, Martin and the couple celebrated 30 years of marriage in June of this year. The couple have two daughters in their twenties, Aisling and Eimear who were cheering their mum on from the RTÉ studio audience last Saturday.
Anne had three sisters and one brother cheering her on from the audience on Saturday. They are Margot, Marie, Alice and John while her other siblings, Patricia and James watched on from Crosshaven.
Anne has no plans yet for the winnings from the show, but says she will certainly enjoy the win with her family.
