The Crosshaven community is getting ready to gather for a joyful celebration of culture, connection and shared experience at this year’s Street Feast taking place on Sunday 25 May from 1 to 3 pm in the community garden.
At the heart of the event is a powerful idea: that everyone brings something to the table. Organised in a pot luck style, the Street Feast invites people to share a dish or something else of meaning whether that is a musical talent, a board game, a good story or even simply giving a neighbour a lift to make sure they do not miss out.
The event will take place under a stretch tent generously provided by the Sea Scouts and promises an afternoon of delicious food, vibrant music and genuine connection.

“We want this to be a celebration of inclusion and belonging,” said Joleen Cronin, one of the organisers. “The theme this year is all about creating a space where people can show up as themselves, share what they have and feel part of something bigger. Whether that is through food, music or simply a chat with someone new, it is a small but meaningful step towards a more connected and welcoming community.”
A highlight of this year’s event is the participation of residents from the Kinsale Road Direct Provision Centre who will be sharing dishes from their home countries offering attendees a chance to enjoy food from across the world and connect with people whose stories and cultures may be new to them.
“It is such an exciting opportunity to come together and celebrate the incredible diversity in our wider community,” said Cormac O’Donoghue of Crosshaven Computers and co-organiser. “We have an amazing line-up of local music, delicious food from near and far and most importantly people coming together in the best possible way. It is going to be a brilliant day.”
The afternoon will feature performances from Across The Board Community Band, Crosshaven Music Collective and CAFE, a dynamic 15-piece flute choir.
Organisers are encouraging everyone to help spread the word. “Tell your friends, invite your neighbours and bring someone along who might not otherwise come,” said Cronin. “This event is for everyone.”
