Dr Daniel Nuzum and Marie Piper Gregan are honoured by Lord Mayor of Cork City

Dr Daniel Nuzum, living in Carrigaline, is to be commended by the Lord Mayor of Cork City, Cllr Deidre Forde for his work in spiritual and pastoral Education. Not only is he an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in UCC, he also acts as UCC healthcare chaplin, Clinical Pastoral Education supervisor & educator with a specialist interest in perinatal care and pregnancy loss and bereavement care. Daniel received his PhD from University College Cork in 2016 where his thesis was ‘The spiritual and professional impact of stillbirth’. Daniel’s research interests are in the area of care following stillbirth and neonatal bereavement, spirituality in specialist palliative care, pastoral education and healthcare ethics. Daniel lectures on the undergraduate programme on whole person care and communication skills and on the MSc in Obstetrics & Gynaecology on bereavement care and communication skills.




Marie Piper Gregan, living in Crosshaven, is also being acknowledged by the Lord Mayor of Cork City, Cllr Deidre Forde for her dedication and commitment to Douglas. Marie was born in Douglas and has organised countless fundraising events for the community. One of recent fundraising events was an illuminated tractor parade in aid of Cork City Missing Persons Search and Recovery.
