The Good Fish Company has further enhanced its growing global reputation by picking up the prestigious 2026 Seafood Excellence Awards at the Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America in Boston for the second consecutive year. Celebrations at the company’s Ringaskiddy headquarters were loud after confirmation of the news that its sumptuous new Coconut Margarita Haddock offering had been named “Best New Retail Product” at the showcase seafood event, putting it firmly in the global spotlight once again.
The Award specifically highlights new products, condiments, and dishes launched in the US seafood market in the last year, and its latest outright winner pairs an Atlantic haddock fillet and Everything seasoning, with a tequila, coconut, and lime sauce that is added during the final stages of cooking. Working in collaboration with US-based Icy Waters, the award is the latest recognition for The Good Fish Company team, which continues to expand its international reach following the completion of a multi-million euro investment in its processing plant in Shanbally, Cork.

Founded in Carrigaline, by Denis Good almost forty years ago, the family-run enterprise has thrived since adding an international focus to its activities in recent years. Retaining its principle of always providing quality seafood to customers, The Good Fish Company responded to an increasing demand for high-quality frozen seafood products by upskilling its staff team of over 100 workers, placing sustainable practices at its core, and driving innovation alongside great tasting seafood products.
“The Seafood Expo North America has become an incredibly important event for The Good Fish Company, so to walk away as Seafood Excellence Award winners for the second year in a row is a brilliant moment for the entire company,” Managing Director Donagh Good said. “It also meant even more to have my father here with me when the announcement was made.
“Our ethos right from the beginning of the company’s origins has always been to provide customers with quality seafood, so our decision to invest significantly in our processing facilities and staff is beginning to demonstrate early impact. We can now bring that same ethos to global markets and showcase everything that’s unique and industry-leading in what we are trying to do.”
This latest success builds on last year’s event which saw The Good Fish Company triumph in the same category for their Atlantic Salmon with a Guinness Sweet Honey Mustard Melt & Panko Crumb. Placing the product up against other international brands, the award captured crucial visibility and reputational growth for The Good Fish Company and allowed US partners Icy Water to secure growing retail presence with some of the biggest retailers in North America. The salmon recipe is now listed with two retailers in the US, with more listings to follow this summer.
“The Good Fish Company team is always delighted when our products are recognised,” Donagh added. “However, this specific Award is judged on considerations such as taste profile, nutritional value, and originality, and that is one of the most satisfying aspects of this. To be shortlisted from over 100 products is an achievement, and to be named a Winner once again is recognition for the great work our staff do each and every day."
