Hassett’s Bakery – Cork Artisan Food Producers Award 2016

Hassett’s Bakery has been presented with the Cork Artisan Producers Award 2016 at the annual Cork Business Awards that took place at the Clayton Silver Springs Hotel on Friday, 25th November. The award follows on from recent double success at Blas na hÉireann/The Irish Food Awards, where the bakery picked up a gold medal for its Linseed & Black Pepper Crackers and a silver medal for its Chocolate Viennese Biscuits. Speaking after the Cork Business Awards, Master Baker and founder of Hassett’s Bakery, Michael Hassett said: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised at The Cork Business Awards and also by Blas na hÉireann. 2016 has been a great year for Hassett’s Bakery as we celebrate 32 years in business and the 30th anniversary of our first retail outlet, which opened in Douglas Village Shopping Centre in 1986. From those small beginnings, we have grown the business and are proud to employ a team of more than 40 people at our bakery and our expanding network of locations, which now includes: a bakery shop in the English Market, bakery-cafés in Carrigaline and at 2 Washington Street, right in the heart of the City. We look forward to continuing to grow and develop the business in the coming years and to play our part in keeping Cork’s great bakery tradition alive!” Hassett’s Bakery produces a wide variety of artisan breads including: sourdough, spelt, rye and a range of traditional Irish breads. The bakery is also renowned for producing some of the best, high-end continental and local pastries. It also produces luxury biscuits, crackers, fine handmade chocolates and ice cream cakes. The bakers and the team at Hassett’s have the expertise and flair to create something truly unique to make your occasion special. This Christmas, Hassett’s Bakery brings you a gourmet take on an Irish classic, with our own beautifully presented biscuit tin range, featuring the much loved Jelly Star. Hassett’s Jelly Star launched in 2014, recreating a traditional chocolate biscuit, decorated with a jelly star, that had disappeared from the market.
