Janeville- €300 Million Housing Development For Carrigaline Writes Jack White
The official turning of the sod took place on Monday afternoon at Janeville, Carrigaline’s new housing development worth €300 million. 800 homes will be built on the 100 acre Cork Road site and is being hailed as one of the most significant developments in the county. Astra Construction Services are responsible for the development, which will comprise 3, 4 and 5 bedroom, BER A rated, detached and semi-detached homes which will be built in a number of phases. More than 100 people will be employed on the construction of Janeville and work on the first phase of housing is commencing immediately with houses already for sale off the plans. Since 1985, Astra Construction Services, led by Director Stephen McCarthy, has developed more than 2,000 houses in Carrigaline, including Herons Wood and Forest Hills. “Having survived challenging times in the construction sector, we are delighted to be starting this new development, which will provide beautiful, high quality homes to families and individuals of all ages. We have always developed in Carrigaline as it is a great place to live, with the best of both urban and rural amenities and facilities on the doorstep,” said Stephen McCarthy, Managing Director, Astra Construction Services. Homes available in the current development phase at Janeville range from €290,000 (3 Bedroom semi-detached) to €495,000 (5 bedroom detached). Speaking on the development Minister Simon Coveney TD said, “A development of this scale will have a big impact on housing availability in the Cork region. People living in Janeville will enjoy all the benefits of this scenic area, near Cork Harbour, Crosshaven, beaches and walkway amenities, as well as being within 15km of Cork city and within easy reach of several large employers and industrial parks in this region.”
