Kinsale Golfer Continues To Lead The Way

Kinsale Golfer Continues To Lead The Way Writes JJ Hurley

Kinsale Golfer, John Murphy, continues to lead the way as one of Ireland’s up and coming young protégés, adding the Leinster student’s title to an ever-burgeoning trophy cabinet.

The success comes hot on the heels of some fine recent performances when he claimed 1st place in the Kerry Scratch cup, picked up the U21 title in the recent East of Ireland Championship, as well as scoring the lowest round in the Irish Amateur Championship – held on the famous Royal County Down Course.

Outside of his own age group, the Maynooth student, who is soon to travel to Louisville, Kentucky, to take up a lucrative scholarship, has also been impressing in the adult ranks, not just on home shores but also abroad, recently qualifying as an amateur for his first professional tournament in France For the record, the Kinsale golfer finished in a very impressive 23rd position – out of nearly 130 competitors in the continental tournament.

With a growing reputation for a cool head under pressure, Murphy has received a call up into the inter-pro Munster team, a recognition for his recent successes.
