Kinsale Kidathlon Celebrates 12 Years of Inspiring Fun and Fitness for a New Generation of Athletes

The beloved child-focused event returns to the Dock Beach, Kinsale championing participation over competition for a fantastic family day out.

Kinsale Triathlon Club is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of the Kinsale Kidathlon, promoting health, fitness, and fun for young people. Now in its 12th year, this unique children's triathlon will take place on SUNDAY, July 20th, at the picturesque Dock Beach, near Kinsale town.

For over a decade, the Kinsale Kidathlon has set itself apart with its inclusive 'fun over competition' philosophy. Participants aged 6 to 15 tackle age-appropriate swimming (over 8s only), cycling, and running courses, with distances starting from just 200m. With no podiums or winners declared, the focus remains firmly on personal achievement, healthy participation, and the sheer joy of completing a multi-sport challenge. This accessible, volunteer-led event offers a unique and low-cost entry point for young people to engage with sport in a supportive atmosphere.

The enduring success of the Kinsale Kidathlon is a testament to the incredible spirit of the Kinsale community. Hundreds of dedicated volunteers, supportive local neighbours, and passionate Kinsale Triathlon Club members (who temporarily set aside their own training) come together annually to ensure this event inspires the next generation of active individuals.
