Lidl Ireland Sponsors Passage West Ladies Football Blitz

Lidl Ireland has committed to a three-year sponsorship as the lead sponsor of the Passage West Lidl Ladies Football Blitz in Cork. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, September 6th, and Sunday, September 7th, and aims to be the largest and most memorable yet, with a call to local communities, families, and businesses for their support.
Now in its 17th year, this annual under 8, under 10, and under 12 ladies' football Blitz has expanded significantly from its humble beginnings in 2008 with eight local teams. It has evolved into a nationwide celebration of youth football and community spirit, hosted at the Passage West grounds. The event welcomes children's teams from across Ireland for friendly, age-appropriate matches, maintaining an inclusive ethos where no scores are kept, allowing all participants to enjoy the game without pressure.
Last year's event, also supported by Lidl Ireland, saw over 240 teams and 11,000 attendees participate in a weekend dedicated to ladies' Gaelic football.
Lidl Ireland continues its strong advocacy for female sports and athletes through its long-standing partnership with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA). Over the past decade, Lidl Ireland has invested more than €10 million in this partnership, driving visibility for female athletes through impactful campaigns and providing thousands of new jerseys, substantial community funding, and essential equipment to teams nationwide.
This year's Passage West Lidl Ladies Football Blitz promises a fun-filled weekend for all ages. It will feature the return of the annual parade, face painting, live music, DJ performances, prizes, and more.
In addition, Lidl colleagues from their store network and regional distribution centre will volunteer throughout the weekend to assist with event coordination, distribute branded merchandise, refreshments, and promotional materials to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
