‘Meet Your MEP’ Programme Success

Writer: Online JournalistOnline Journalist

Eve Ní Chaigne, a Gaelcholáiste Charraig Uí Leighin Transition Year student, has been invited by MEP Seán Kelly to visit the European Parliament later this year. Eve will embark on a two-day trip to Brussels from the 17th to the 19th of November, along with nineteen other Transition Year students from across the country as part of the ‘Meet your MEP’ programme.

Eve’s essay on ‘How life will be different if/when we achieve gender equality’, an issue which she feels very strongly about, secured her a place ahead of hundreds of other entries. Her trip to Brussels will include meetings and tours in the European Parliament and the European Commission, free time in Brussels, and several gender equality related activities.

Principal Donnchadh Ó Cróinín said, ‘We are delighted that Eve’s essay-writing ability and her hard work in writing this excellent piece has been recognised in winning a place on this trip. Great credit is due to both Eve and her English teacher, Iníon Ní Chuirc, on this fantastic achievement. We wish her every success on the trip’.
