Parents Have ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ For School Fundraiser

By Nicola Depuis

Douglas and Rochestown Educate Together National School Fundraising committee are hosting what looks set to be one of the most fun nights out this year to raise funds for much needed soft play surfaces and some play equipment for the new school. Rochestown Educate Together National School opened its doors in September 2013 in Douglas Hall FC and has since been steadily growing.

Now accommodated at a purpose-built temporary building at Garyduff campus, the permanent site for the school will be on Carrs Hill and the tender process will begin soon for this. On November 1st six tribute bands, comprised of eager but nervous parents and staff members, will battle it out at ‘Stars in their Eyes – Band Edition’ for the crown of RETNS Band of the Year.

Tribute bands competing include The Beatles, The Spice Girls, Tina Turners & The Proud Marys, The Jacksons, Abba and The Bollywood Babes. Sponsored by Dan Seaman Motors, the bands will be supported on-stage by amazing band The Stars. Dave Mac from Red FM is MC for the night and DJ Colm O’Sullivan, also from Red FM, takes to the decks at midnight!

There will be amazing raffle prizes on the night as well as delicious finger food. Please support if you can. You’re promised a fun night out and you’ll be supporting the kids of Douglas and Rochestown Educate Together. Tickets cost €25 plus fee from Eventbrite (www.eventbrite.ie) and can be bought at the door. Good luck to everyone taking part!
