Joey Shaw of Passage West School of Taekwondo became a triple Munster Champion at the ITA Munster Taekwondo Championships held at the WIT Arena in Waterford over the weekend. Joey took 3 Gold Medals in Sparring, Patterns and Special Technique.
In Sparring Joey drew the current National Champion from Ennis for the first round this was a repeat of November’s National final. Joey started the bout fast putting his opponent under pressure and never let up, both fighters landed impressive kicks and punches and in the 2nd half of the fight Joey upped his work rate, landing 3 head kicks to seal the victory to move into the Q-Finals. Joey has 3 more fights to be crowned 2020 Munster Champion.
