A Dublin based portrait artist, Peter 'Metcalfe' O'Connor, has offered a portrait of the late Sinead O’Connor to raise urgent funds for the Kinsale Youth Community Centre.
With the centre functioning on private donations and fundraising activities, the youth initiative is currently finding it difficult to keep its doors open as the annual running costs hits €80,000
Despite several high-profile political visits, including most recently Minister Helen McEntee and Minister for Finance Jack Chambers, there is still no sign of funding available from central government to help the centre keep its doors open.
The important youth asset has over 200 members, which opens six days a week to facilitate the youth of the town.
As well as providing a safe space, the centre provides help in areas such as education, mental health and other areas of interest to young people, including the LGBT Community and for young people with autism.
For youth worker at the centre, Sean Kirschhofer the donation of the picture to raise funds for the centre is extremely generous and one that is very much appreciated.
The picture, which has a price tag of €2000, can be viewed at the Wild and Tame Café in the town.
