Two of Carrigaline's best to face off when Cork City play St. Patrick's Athletic
Alec Byrne and Shane Griffin, who both started their careers at Carrigaline United, will be on opposing teams tonight when Cork City FC face St. Patrick's Athletic.

Griffin, who once played for the Rebel Army, signed for the Saints in the winter of 2019, after three seasons with his home town club. While with Cork, he won a league and cup double in 2017 and played for the club in the 2018 UEFA Champions League qualifiers. The left-back has also played for Reading in England and the Republic of Ireland underage teams.
Byrne has been slowly rising through the ranks of Cork City, and has fully broken into the first team this season. After graduating from the youth academy in 2017 with his first professional contract, he has slowly established himself as a force in midfield.
The pair played together for three seasons at City. Their first game together was in April 2017 in a 3-0 win against Limerick FC in the EA Sports Cup. The pair were really getting to know one another in the latter months of 2019, following the arrival of Neale Fenn. Their last game together for the club was a 1-0 win over reigning league champions Dundalk in October 2019.
Kick off tonight at Richmond Park will be 7:45pm and you can follow all the updates on the club's twitter and Facebook.
