The Admiral Drake in Crosshaven is set to close its doors after nearly thirty years in business.
Mick Good, who runs the pub with his wife Rosemary has said it is time to retire after a successful triple-bypass operation.
The pub has a long standing reputation from people all across Cork as a proper village pub with a cosy atmosphere.
Mick - who also owned the Maple Leap in Blackrock and the West End in Ballincollig - told the Neil Prendeville Show on RedFM that he knows it is time to move on.
"It's a young man's game now,” he explained.
”The pub business has changed so much in recent years. It looks like people don't want the traditional small country pub these days, they want the big super-pubs.”
"The days of the old country pub, of coming in for a few quiet pints and a bit of chat and craic, well, I think they are nearly over."
Mick will be having a big farewell at the pub this weekend, to give the much loved pub a grand finale after many years in business.
